ATIPP / Access to Information

This session will walk through some common interactions with the ATIPPA, 2015, focusing on those which are frequently encountered by municipalities. There will be discussion on working with your ATIPP Coordinator; how to conduct a search for records, including what information you must provide to your ATIPP Coordinator; how an access to information request is processed; the use of social media; what is personal information and what you can do with it; and privacy breaches. This presentation will provide you with a well-rounded look into how an access to information request is handled.

Stacey Pratt, Access and Privacy Analyst with the OIPC.

Stacey was born and raised in Mount Pearl. She received a Bachelor of Laws degree with from the University of New Brunswick in 2005 and a Bachelor of Arts from Memorial University in 2002. She also has her Certificate in Information Access and Protection of Privacy (IAPP) from the University of Alberta.

Stacey joined the OIPC in 2009 as an Access and Privacy Analyst. In her work at the OIPC she has been involved with file and offense investigations, research, and general guidance to custodians and public bodies. In her current role she also provides education and training in relation to the ATIPPA, 2015 and PHIA.  Prior to her work in access and privacy, Stacey spent 5 years in private practice at an Atlantic Canadian law firm.

Erin Drover, Senior Privacy Analyst, ATIPP 

Erin has been working with the ATIPP Office for three years. She regularly answers questions from municipalities on privacy and access to information and has played a lead role in developing a Guide for Municipalities on Access to Information and Protection of Privacy.

Erin holds a B.A.(hons.) from Memorial University and an LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick. In addition to her work with the ATIPP Office, she has worked in private practice as a lawyer, with the Law Society of Scotland and with the Provincial Advisory Council on the Status of Women.
